Elective Modules

Chamber Practice in which we focus upon specific conveyancing problems including the current relevance of Sasine writs, what to do with inhibitions and find out whether notes on title still exist.  In addition, we run through a specially designed executry with international and inheritance tax implications.

Litigation in which we spend 4 ½ hours studying the types of instructions that are given in the ordinary court and how to deal with these, pursue the creation of a closed record and follow through a full debate and, in a further 4 ½ hours listen to experienced solicitors describing respectively the summary, solemn and appeal procedures and confront the trainees, in a practical advocacy exercise, with the problems of having to think and address the court on their feet.

Family Law in which we study the creation of the all important separation agreement, the formation of defences in matrimonial proceedings and, in a practical exercise, the presentation to court of submissions in relation to child welfare hearings and other family proceedings.
